LA AURORA 107 HITS THE STATES
Monday, May 3, 2010 at 5:04AM Leading a posse from La Aurora that included Jose Blanco, Amaury Abreu and Jose Manuel Victoria, Guillermo Leon arrived in the U. S. to do four (4) serious events to launch La Aurora’s spectacular new cigar, La Aurora 107. So named, to commemorate the 107th year of the Dominican Republic’s oldest cigar manufacturer. Yes, compared to La Aurora they are all new-comers!
Two years in the making; well, in the blending and then making, the cigar, perhaps of the year, has arrived. The cigar is available in only three sizes, a robusto, belicoso and toro. All are superb smokes.
The launch of La Aurora 107 was staged at Tobacco Plaza in Great Neck, NY, on Wednesday, 29 April, and the attendees, from La Aurora and Miami Cigar & Company, included the aforementioned Leon, Blanco, Abreu, Victoria, plus Nestor Miranda and Rene Castaneda. The event was deemed a tremendous success by all including Marshall Holman, owner of Tobacco Plaza.
The next stop was Florida, on Thursday evening, at Sabor Havana in West Palm Beach, FL. The shop is one of four, with the other three in the Miami area, operated by Jorge Valdez and Aquiles Legra. Bart Espinosa operates the West Palm Beach shop and organized the festivities. Again, the event was extremely well attended, sales were brisk and the flashes kept popping, as all and sundry in attendance sought photos with Guillermo Leon, and his retinue, in front of the Press Wall.
Yes, there was a Press Wall, a touch that Miami Cigar & Company added, and so far no one has copied, at the first Nat’l Nestor Miranda Cigar Day. The Press Wall at Sabor Havana was decorated with the La Aurora 107, Sabor Havana and Miami Cigar logos. It has proven to be an attractive addition to significant in-store cigar events.
The caravan wended its way north to Orlando and a warm welcome at Corona Cigar Company. Once again, smokers all but clamoured to meet and speak with the affable Guillermo Leon. The subject, La Aurora 107.
One can’t imagine that they whole crew wasn’t fairly tired from the events, the hours and the travel when they wrapped it up at Stogie’s of London Square in Miami, on Saturday, 1 May. From 3:00 till about 10:00 PM the smokers came, thronged the shop, smoked, talked and ate classic Cuban cuisine…if that is not an oxymoron…roast pig, rice and black beans and plantains –cooked somehow!
When the Stogie’s event was ended, the La Aurora group retreated to their hotels in Miami, to rest and on Sunday morning, they returned to the Dominican Republic, after a job, or several jobs, well done.
La Aurora is to be congratulated for giving us a successor to their much vaunted and very popular Cien Ano.

I had never heard of La Aurora cigars until I started started listening to DogWatch Cigar Radio. A five pack sampler I won on an auction site is on its way. They will be in the humidor for a couple weeks before I try one. Of course I say that before they are in the same room with me.
Your words are enjoyed!
