Cigar Inn to Launch Fernando Leon

Miami, FL – In 1997, Fernando Leon of La Aurora Cigars traveled to New York City with Nestor Miranda from Miami Cigar & Company. This was the first time the head of La Aurora traveled to the United States for a cigar event. The location was Cigar Inn and they were hosted by the Fakir Brothers. Fifteen years later, La Aurora Cigars is set to release the Fernando Leon and what better then to have the official launch at Cigar Inn. This time joining Gus, Billy & Bas will be the son of Don Fernando, Guillermo Leon who heads La Aurora in the Dominican Republic.

First Annual Cigar Night - Superior Officers’ Association establishes children's trust

On September 7th, the Superior Officers Association will be holding its First Annual Cigar Night.

The event is to raise funds for the children of fallen officer Sergeant Tomasso Popolizi.

On March 3, 2007, Sergeant Tomasso Popolizio died during the pursuit of a suspect who had been in possession of a handgun and subsequently stole a police car.

Soon after his death, the Superior Officers’ Association established a trust fund for the children of Sergeant Tomasso Popolizio. The proceeds from the event will be will be used to grow the trust fund. But they need your help! Tickets to the event are $100 which includes an evening of fine food, music, cigars & libations. Sponsorship opportunities are available from $50 to $5,000. We are also seeking the donation of raffle items for the event as well.

Sergeant Popolizio died protecting us and now we must protect his children’s future. We urge you to help us in any way you can to make this event as successful as possible. Please contact Lieutenant Alex Martinez directly with any questions you may have by email at amartinez@newarksoa.org.

TIANT CIGAR GROUP LAUNCHES NEW BLENDS

After pitching baseballs for 19 years with the Boston Red Sox, and making an El Tiante cigar that was labeled “The Red Sox Cigar,” Luis Tiant passed on his passion for cigar making to his son, Daniel. El Tiante, Inc., the maker of the Red Sox Cigar, is now defunct; however, a year ago Daniel and Michael Bellody launched the restructured Tiant Cigar Group and recently introduced new El Tiante Habano Rosado and Habano Oscuro blends.
