DogWatch Cigar Radio Podcast Episode #333 - Happy Birthday Freedom!

This week Bob and Dale celebrate July 4th.   ER Doc calls in and shares his review of the Entubar.  The Cigar of the Week is the Ernesto Perez Carillo New Wave Connecticut. The cigar featured on the "What's My Band?" blind smoke test is the Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur Limited Edition DJ Shalifoe calls in to report on his new Burl Palio Cutter that he won in April's contest.

Check out the live show!  Go to http://www.cigarmedia.tv/live/ where the show is broadcast live most Friday evenings at 9 PM EST.

Cigar of the Week  - E.P. Carrillo New Wave Connecticut.

The New Wave, which both Bob and Dale enjoyed, is a favorite of Liz's.

    Country of Origin: Dominican Republic

    Brand Name: E.P. Carrillo

    Binder: Nicaragua

    Filler: Dominican Republic, Nicaragua

What else have you been smokin' Dale?

Siglo Limited Reserve Siglo VI - 6” x 54 - From the Nica Altadis factory comes this line of cigars borrowing on the Cuban Cohiba Siglo line name. Filler is Dom. Rep. and Nicaraguan, binder is Nicaragua grown Broadleaf and the wrapper is Ecuadorian Cubano. I really like these full bodied mid-priced cigars! Lots of oak woodiness with good spice, pepper and some anise. Construction is good. Room aromas are earthy floral.

Esencia Belicoso - 5.5” x 52 -  A beautiful representation of the Belicoso format in a cigar that has it all! Full bodied, full flavored and wonderfully complex. Perfectly balanced in flavors, covering a wide spectrum of savory tastes with good spice. For me, this format brings out just a touch more sweetness and a little less tannins then the other sizes.

What else have you been smokin' Bob?

La Gloria Cubana Artesanos de Obelisco - There are days that I hate this cigar and days that I love it.  It seems to have a flavor profile that does not always agree with me, and so I smoke them infrequently which is unfortunate because overall I really like this cigar.  The secret to enjoying this cigar is to smoke it slowly.  We have said many times on this show that too often cigar smokers smoke too fast and that can seriously damage the flavor.  Well this cigar is a way to prove it.  Smoke it slow, and then slow down some more for the best flavors.

What's My Band? - this week's Unbanded Cigar is the Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur Limited Edition

Bob:  Very sweet on the tongue, mild pre-light aroma.  First flavors are citrus, leather and bean (savory).  As I smoked it, there came a slight edge to the flavors (spice) that I really liked.

June Palio Cutter Contest Winner:  John Magrisso of Cambridge, Massachusetts won a black carbon fiber Palio cutter in this month's contest.  Enter the July contest now!  Remember, you must re-enter each month to be eligible to win the featured Palio cutter.

Check out the show at http://www.cigarmedia.tv/live/ where the show is broadcast live most Friday evenings at 9 PM EST.

Do you have a Herf Line Review?  If you call and leave a cigar review on the herf line and it is played on the show, you will receive a DogWatch Cigar Radio patch! You can reach the Herfline at 321-594-4373 - or cigar.radio on Skype. You can also send email to theshow@cigarmedia.tv.

Do you have a suggestion for the unbanded cigar of the week?  Every week Bob and Dale include an “unbanded cigar” segment in their show in which they smoke a cigar without any markings and give their honest opinions.  Bob then opens a sealed envelope and discovers the cigar’s name and manufacturer.  If you have suggestions for the "What's My Band?" segment, please send them to liz@cigarmedia.tv.
