DogWatch Cigar Radio Podcast Episode #346 - Snippy Bob gets the smack down from the Executive Producer... Classic Bradley is Classy Indeed...

This week Walter Cyran has a question about what to do when a cigarette smoker asks you to put out your cigar in a public smoking area. Dale announces that he will be going on the CigarTourism.com 2012 trip to Nicaragua/Honduras.  If you want to join Dale on the trip, sign up now before all the seats are gone!  A few places on the Dominican Republic trip are also still available.  There are two contests this month:  1) Enter guest host Craig Schneider's  Esencia Contest by sending in your review or "experience" of smoking an Esencia cigar to theshow@cigarmedia.tv.  (Be sure to type "Esencia" on the subject line.)  On Craig's next appearance on DogWatch (Show #348 recorded on October 14th), he will be awarding some cigars from his personal humidor for the best submission (as he judges it).  2) You can also enter October's Palio Cutter Contest by sending a photo of you or your friends enjoying a cigar to theshow@cigarmedia.tv.   (Don't forget to include your mailing address and type "Palio" on the subject line.)    September's winner of a Palio cutter is Dan Lawson.  To see the September pictures, click on the Contest icon on the www.cigarmedia.tv home page.  The featured 'Cigar of the Week' is the Alec Bradley American Classic.  Liz interviews Colin Ganley, Chief Editor of Cigar Journal, on What's hot? What's not? What's next? The  'What's My Band?' cigar is the Torano Master provided by Liz.

Check out the live show!  Go to http://www.cigarmedia.tv/live/ where the show is broadcast live most Friday evenings at 9 PM EST.

What else have you been smokin' Dale?

Saint Luis Rey Double Coronas 49 x 194 (7.6”) - It is officially fall now, and I think of smoking Habanos more this time of year then any other. Don’t know why, just seems like the Cuban flavors fit the season. I pulled out this Prominentes vitola  to enjoy during a pre-season hockey game. Maybe one of my favorites in this size, the cigar is medium bodied, smooth and quite complex. A mild sweetness is apparent throughout the cigar, complimenting the floral, coffee, leather and other earthy flavors. With rich aromas, a great draw and producing a lot of smoke, this cigar is a fantastic companion when one is looking for a 2 hr mini vacation!

Master by Carlos Torano Torpedo 6.25” x 52 - After featuring this cigar recently on DWCR, I can’t get enough of these excellent cigars! I find them medium bodied and full flavored with great balance. The room aroma is magnificent, sweet and rich. On the palette, a myriad of flavors can easily be picked out, and all are savory & delish! Caramel, cedar, cocoa, spice and an occasional whiff of citrus. Very smooth and easy to smoke, but also holds one’s interest. Wrapper is Ecuador Habano, binder is Esteli Nicaraguan and the filler is Esteli & Jalapa Nicaraguan. Add the easy-on-the-wallet price of under $6 and you have a real value cigar!

What else have you been smokin' Bob?

Kristoff GC Signature Series -  This week I was afforded an opportunity to try one of these new smokes from Glenn Case thanks to Tom at Duque Cigars in Indialantic, FL.  I was excited to try this smoke because as you may recall, I was a big supporter of his earlier efforts to break into the value priced cigar world with tasteful cigars.  Unfortunately, by 2010, the Kristoff line of cigars had become distasteful examples of contract manufacturing.  It has been that long since I got the courage to try another Kristoff product.  And so it was that I looked forward to this stogie as I sat down to enjoy a fine NFL game.  Strangely enough, the cigar and NFL experience were eerily similar in that both suffered from a lack of balance, bad taste and inconsistency.  For the NFL, this was exemplified by the Jags vs Carolina game that was a war of the worst and it just hurt to watch such a poor example of professional football.  In the case of the GC Signature, the experience began hopefully with smooth flavors of leather, chocolate and sweet spice.  By the midpoint however, the flavor had begun to degrade into a rather sour, almost acrid flavor base and although the original flavors of leather and chocolate remained, the sweet spice was replaced by the flavor of slightly over-ripe fruit, verging on rancid.  This did not turn out to be a very good cigar, similar to the football being played by Jacksonville and Carolina.

Joya de Nicaragua Antano Dark Corojo Doble Fuerte - A full bodied cigar that fits my needs first thing each day with a great cup of coffee. I prefer the Pelogroso (5x44) but have also enjoyed the Azarosa (4.5x52).  The cigar comes in 3 other sizes as well:  El Martillo (5.5x54), La Pesadilla (4.75x60) and the Poderoso (6x54).  This cigar epitomizes the “power” cigar with its rich, deep and dark flavor profile that is not nicotine heavy but still packs a whallop.  A creamy Nicaraguan puro that performs magnificently.

What's My Band? - The Carlos Torano Master Robusto provided by Liz.

Palio Cutter Contest: The September winner of a silver Palio cutter is Dan Lawson from Louisana.  For October's contest, we are looking for photos of you and your friends enjoying cigars.  Send your entry to theshow@cigarmedia.tv.  Please include your mailing address with your entry and type "Palio" on the subject line.

Do you have a suggestion for the unbanded cigar of the week?  Every week Bob and Dale include an “unbanded cigar” segment in their show in which they smoke a cigar without any markings and give their honest opinions.  Bob then opens a sealed envelope and discovers the cigar’s name and manufacturer.  If you have suggestions for the "What's My Band?" segment, please send them to liz@cigarmedia.tv.

Do you have a Cigar Review?  If you call and leave a cigar review on the herf line and it is played on the show, you will receive a DogWatch Cigar Radio patch! You can reach the Herfline at 321-594-4373 - or cigar.radio on Skype. You can also send email to theshow@cigarmedia.tv.

Music provided by the Figurados from their new album, "Lesson Two," and The Surfonics
