DogWatch Cigar Radio #237 - Ed McMahon Variety Hour(s)
08-30-2009 Link to download the show is at the bottom of the show notes.
Cigar of the Week is the Illusione CG:4 White Horse. A Nicaraguan puro from the mind of Dion Giolito who is becoming one of the most respected blenders in the boutique and 'small batch' arena of premium cigars. Dion is supported by the outstanding Casa Fernandez growers who produce some of the most consistent and flavorful leaf in the business. Available at FullersPullers.com
With Dale off on a romantic getaway Bob brings in a variety of guests to fill the void. First up is tobacconist and foodie Joe Fuller to talk about some new cigars from IPCPR. Doc Simpson joins the show after a long hiatus to talk cigars, mojitos and philosophy. Bringing the show back to reality is the affable Tom Barbalet to tell us about his humidor construction project. A PDF of the project is available here. Bob wraps up the evening with Craig Schnieder and a blind review of a hard to get Dark Side selection.
Congratulations to Mike Denson, winner of a Gold Palio Cutter and Mark Oship the winner of a one year subscription to European Cigar Cult Magazine.
Opening theme music provided by 25 Smokin' Figurados from their album Divine Spirits, Holy Smoke.
Closing theme Longboard Cowboy provided by The Surfonics.

Noticed I won a Gold Palio! Wow, nice gift. Do I need to do anything?

Nice episode Bob - I am really intrigued by Tom's experiment->project, it looks great! I agree with you though on the whole shipping into Vegas siruation - I could feel you subtely questioning his logic.
I am pretty confident that the B&Ms are getting their cigars from more or less the same means/conditions as Tom and Doc Stogie Fresh are, certainly not via temperature and humidity controlled delivery means. I'd like to see them test this blind; I have a pretty good idea of how the results would turn out.
I just wonder how retailers get there shipments in. I have been to LV and although many cigars are somewhat higher than here (low Florida tax) they dont seem high enough to pay for specialized shipping.
You guys are great! Where do you go now to listen live?
