DogWatch Cigar Radio #249 - Smokin' shrooms and potatoes
11-22-2009 Cigar of the Week - El Titan de Bronze Redemption Maduro Coronitas – We’ve featured El Titan de Bronze a couple times on DWCR. The cigars are made in Miami by level 9 rollers, all cigars are made using the entubado method and are finished with the traditional Cuban triple cap. Another master roller then inspects the cigars and packages them, ensuring the cigars meet the highest standards. From the Gold, the Maduro and Redemption lines, we have always been impressed, but now comes the Redemption Maduro! Nicaragua fillers & binder, gently finished in an Ecuadorian San Andres Maduro wrapper, provides a smoke that is one of the best new cigars of 2009. Five traditional formats are available, and we’ve selected the Coronitas (5.5” x 44) to introduce this blend to our listeners.
Bob is going to Tampa this weekend,Cigar Heritage Festival in Ybor City.

The 1916 Cameroon commemorates the beginning of a legacy with the year of Don Santiago Toraño's emigration from Spain to Cuba.
Wrapper:Cameroon
Binder:Havana Seed Nicaraguan
Filler:Honduras/Nicaragua
An absolute joy to smoke, excellent construction and burn, medium bodied, so flavors are less pronounced but got a little bit of pepper spice with some sweetness on the tongue. A smooth cigar that smokes slow and is perfect anytime you want to chill out and relax.
5 Vegas Classic Torpedo - the 'Classic' or 'Red', the Reserva
Utilizing tobaccos from 5 different plantations, leaves that have been patiently aged and perfectly fermented,
Wrapper: Sumatra
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Cuban-seed Nicaraguan
Cuban-seed Dominican
Origin: Nicaragua
Body: Medium
Medium bodied cigar with good bitter taste of coffee complimented by a savory flavor of mushrooms and potatoes. Smoke is creamy. A very good smoke.
Drew Estate La Vieja Habano Rothchild Luxo - This was actually the first cigar from Drew Estates and was sold thru their kiosk in the world trade center, Cuban Corojo wrapper, filler from Esteli and Jalapa, mixed filler, had some good flavors of spice and a hint of earthy mushrooms. But the little bits in my mouth really detracted from the smoke, I am over mixed filler cigars.
Oliveros King Havano Oscuro Squire 5x48 - http://www.oliveroscigars.com/home.htm
Pure Nicaraguan, all ligero cigar, Nicaraguan binder, filler all ligero from Esteli, Jalapa and Condega
This is at the top of my want to smoke more list, not because it is the best cigar I ever smoked but because I found it to be a bit different in flavors, bitter chocolate, spicy and peppery with a little vanilla. Solid construction and a perfect burn line, excellent with coffee or to spice up your evening. Excellent cigar with excellent construction.
