If I want to spend $150+ on cigars, I'll pick them out myself, thank you very much, and I have no interest in being herded past the manufacturers and reps, many are friends that I'd like to catch up with but won't be able to due to the nature of the event. It just doesn't represent a good value for me. In short, I agree with your entire post.

Kip Fisher comments on I Hate Cigar Events

I'm with you 100%, Bob. This has actually been on mind lately after a couple of events I've visited in recent months. The tweetup was a glowing example for what you're saying - and what is a bright spot in the industry. We attended one large event in Tampa this past year that left me feeling a bit like cattle - no interaction with the makers other than "Thanks for the cigar."

Tom Ufer comments on I Hate Cigar Events

Hey, you forgot about the photo op with me!! Bob, I agree 100% with your opinion about these two types of events. Last weekend's event at Charmed Leaf was really great because as you said, I got to sit down, smoke a cigar and really get to know the manufacturers that had attended.

Jon Kalczynski comments on Cigar Reviews and Miami's Calle Ocho

It was a great evening, with great company, and even better smokes! I just do not want them to do it by breaking the rules. You mention Joe at FullersPullers, Joe is not a discount house like some others and makes his business on service and selection. Bravo for him, we just need more like him.

Don Hubbell comments on This could be Heaven or Hell

And what of those of us nowhere near a Brick and Mortar? I'm grateful for the honest ones on-line, i.e. FullerPullers. Joe is committed to his customers, he’s careful to get me good products at a fair price. I know my purchases are looked after by a professional that understands a satisfied customer is going to come back for more. Sad to say some on-line shops are not as committed, and I do not give them my cigar business.

Don Hubbell comments on IPCPR Wrap up

"Esencia - My go-to cigar in times of trouble and despair." I concur with Bob on this observation- What was a box of Esencia Petit Coronas is rapidly disappearing from my coolidor. The craftsmen of BOTL have a found a nearly perfect level of spice and a flavor profile that fits right into my inexperienced palate, with flavors that alternate between leather, cedar and an pleasent unexpected savory flavor that brings to mind the taste of beef on the grill. My only concern is that I will smoke 'em all up before I can get more into the coolidor. This small ring gauge format consistently delivers every time.
